What STI tests does SABA offer, and what do they cost?
Both tests include an assessment with a GMC-registered doctor, so you can talk through your symptoms and concerns in private.
SABA prices, October 2026. Both include a doctor's assessment.
Which do I need? The doctor will advise at your appointment, based on your symptoms and when you might have been exposed. If you'd like to ask before booking, send reception a message on WhatsApp (07703 980989).
If you have private medical insurance or a health plan through work, check whether your policy covers STI testing before you book.
How does that compare with other private STI tests?
Private STI test prices vary widely. Home testing kits start from about £29 for a single test, and private clinic full screens are listed at about £150 to £250 (TreatCompare price comparison, April 2026).
Before you book anywhere, check how many infections the test covers, whether a doctor sees you and whether results come with advice on what to do next. At SABA, the £400 full screen covers 11 infections and includes a doctor's assessment.
Would you like to be tested soon, in person? See our private GP appointments in Bishop's Stortford page, or call reception on 01279 874388 to check today's availability.

What happens at your appointment?
- Book online, by phone or on WhatsApp. Appointments are usually the same or next working day, Monday to Friday.
- You see a GMC-registered doctor in private. They ask about any symptoms and when you might have been exposed, so they can advise which test suits you.
- Your samples are taken: a blood test and a urine sample for the full screen, or a swab for the swab test.
- Your doctor explains how and when you'll get your results, and what happens if a result is positive.
With your consent, we can send a summary to your NHS GP. If you'd rather we didn't, tell the doctor at your appointment.
Tip: Please don't feel embarrassed. It helps us most if you tell us honestly about any symptoms and when you might have been exposed.
When should I get tested?
If you have symptoms, get tested now. If you don't, the NHS advises waiting 7 weeks after unprotected sex. STIs can take up to 7 weeks to show up on a test.
Common symptoms include:
- unusual discharge from the vagina, penis or anus
- pain when peeing
- itchy genitals or anus
- a rash, or blisters, sores, lumps or warts around the genitals or anus
- unusual vaginal bleeding
You don't need symptoms to be tested. In England, 70.3% of STI tests in 2025 were in people without symptoms (UK Health Security Agency).

Can I get tested free on the NHS?
Yes. NHS sexual health clinics offer free STI testing and treatment, and your NHS GP won't be told about your visit without your permission. You don't usually need a referral, but contact the clinic first to check how to be seen. Free chlamydia home tests are available for people under 25. You can find a sexual health clinic on the NHS website.
When should I get urgent help?
If you think you've been exposed to HIV in the last 72 hours, go to a sexual health clinic or A&E straight away. You may be able to have emergency HIV medicine called PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis), which is available from sexual health clinics and A&E. Don't wait for a routine test.
